Washington Mutual Alumni Funds

Two new enhancements have been made to the Washington Mutual Alumni Assistance Programs giving even more employees opportunities for assistance.

We offer two programs to assist WM employees who have lost their jobs and/or their savings following the recent events at Washington Mutual.

In the Fall of 2008, we established the scholarship fund for WM employees in Washington State who lost their savings just as they were hoping to send their kids, or themselves, to college.  In 2009, we awarded our first seven scholarships and seven more scholarships in 2010. We have also awarded 14 re-training grants so far this year.  We have raised nearly $750,000 to help Washington Mutual employees and their families.  Click here to learn more about our progress.

On a nationwide basis, we are trying to do something for some of the laid off employees who have even more immediate needs. We have partnered with Wellspring Family Services to offer you some counseling and financial assistance with particular needs you may have at this difficult time.  We have also added two enhancements to our program because the current economic disruption has proven to be deeper and of longer duration than we originally anticipated and the loss of the jobs that were provided by Washington Mutual has been particularly devastating in some areas.  Now you will be able to reapply for emergency assistance and there is a new program for nationwide re-training tuition with fewer requirements.  To learn more about these enhancements, click here.
